Criteria for Teaching Academy Awards
Teaching Academy awards are open to any NMSU educator (full or part-time faculty, graduate students or staff) on any campus.
Most Distinguished Graduate Student Member
The graduate student with the most Teaching Academy training hours who has not received the award before.
Most Distinguished Faculty Member
The faculty member with the most Teaching Academy training hours who has not received the award before.
Most Distinguished Department
The department with the highest average training hours per faculty member AND the broadest range of participation, which has not received the award for at least five years.
Honorary Member
The person (or persons) who has contributed most/substantially to the Teaching Academy or to faculty development at NMSU as determined by the Teaching Academy Advisory Board.
Outstanding Workshop
The NMSU presenter of the Teaching Academy workshop that earned the highest evaluations from ten or more participants. (To volunteer to give a workshop contact Jean Conway.)
Teaching Academy Innovation Award
An innovation in teaching that has positively impacted student learning. Evidence of a positive impact can include student perceptions, increases in student evaluations, improvements in test scores for the same objective questions across semesters, and so on. This innovation must have some connection to the Teaching Academy, i.e. you learned about it here or you gave a workshop about it here. Applications are due every year on the first Monday in March.
